Women’s health in Direct Primary Care: what’s included at SALTA

Women’s health should be simple, personal, and easy to access. At SALTA Direct Primary Care, it is. Your membership gives you routine gyn-focused primary care, perimenopause and menopause guidance, and preventive screening coordination, with no copays, no insurance hassles, and transparent monthly pricing.

This guide explains exactly what is included for women at every stage, how we coordinate Pap smears, mammograms, ultrasounds, and labs, and when we partner with OB/GYN. You will also see how to book, what counts as urgent vs emergency, and how after-hours concerns work.

If you have been juggling insurance portals, surprise bills, and long waits just to get basic answers, DPC can feel like a breath of fresh air. Here is how SALTA makes women’s health straightforward.

What your membership includes for women’s health

Your SALTA membership covers comprehensive primary care with women’s health woven in. Expect:

  • Annual wellness and breast exams: unhurried visits that review your history, update vaccines, check blood pressure and heart health, perform clinical breast exams, and map out screenings.
  • Pap guidance: we regularly perform Pap tests in our office for our members, and coordinate with the gynecologist if the member prefers. Abnormal results are reviewed with you and next steps are arranged.
  • Mammogram and ultrasound orders: we place orders, help you choose high-quality, cost-savvy imaging centers, and follow results with you.
  • Perimenopause and menopause care: evaluation and treatment for hot flashes, sleep changes, mood shifts, brain fog, and weight changes. We discuss lifestyle options, non-hormonal medications, and menopausal hormone therapy when appropriate, including risks and benefits.
  • Contraception counseling: pills, patch, ring, shot, implant, and IUD options. We prescribe most methods and coordinate device placement with trusted OB/GYN partners if needed.
  • Fertility basics: preconception counseling, cycle tracking, initial labs when indicated, and timely referrals to OB/GYN or reproductive endocrinology if more advanced care is needed.
  • Urinary and vaginal infections: same-day triage for UTI and yeast infection symptoms, with in-office urinalysis when appropriate, treatment, and prevention counseling.
  • STI screening: confidential testing and treatment with guidance on partner notification and follow-up.
  • Mental health support: primary-care-level care for anxiety, depression, and sleep issues that often overlap with hormonal changes.

We also perform EKGs when clinically appropriate, blood draws on-site, and many minor procedures. If your care would be better handled by a specialist, we coordinate referrals and stay involved.

Preventive screenings made simple and cost-savvy

Screenings are vital and should not be confusing. We help you decide what to do and where to go based on your history and current guidelines.

  • Pap and HPV: We perform tests in our office and can coordinate care with a gynecologist if desired. HPV testing is done at the same time as the Pap test.
  • Mammograms: We order screening or diagnostic studies and help you compare imaging centers on quality and price. If you need an ultrasound for dense breasts or a specific concern, we coordinate that too.
  • Bone density: For postmenopause or risk-based needs, we coordinate DEXA scans and review results with you.
  • Labs: We guide you to low-cash-price options or use your insurance for outside labs if you prefer.

Results are messaged to you in plain language. If anything is unclear, you can text, call, or schedule a video visit to review.

Perimenopause and menopause care you can reach anytime

Symptoms can shift week to week. SALTA’s virtual-first care means you can send a secure message describing what you feel and what you have tried. We respond with self-care steps, medication options, or same-day video visits. When an in-person exam is needed, we bring you in quickly.

Common support includes:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats: lifestyle strategies, non-hormonal medications, and hormone therapy when appropriate.
  • Sleep disruption: sleep hygiene tactics, medication options, and evaluation for other causes.
  • Mood and focus changes: screening for anxiety or depression, treatment options, and counseling referrals.
  • Vaginal dryness and pain with intimacy: local estrogen therapies and non-hormonal options.

Care plans are personalized and adjusted over time through messaging or quick check-ins so you do not wait months for relief.

What is included vs referral-only services

Included in your membership:

  • Preventive and acute primary care visits, virtual or in person
  • Annual wellness and pelvic exam with Pap collection; specimen is sent to the lab for analysis
  • Contraception counseling and most prescriptions
  • Perimenopause and menopause evaluation and ongoing management
  • UTI and yeast infection testing and treatment
  • Screening orders and results management
  • Many in-office labs and procedures when appropriate

Referral-only or external billing:

  • Pap collection at an external clinic if that is your preference or clinically indicated (lab fees billed by the lab)
  • IUD or implant placement and removals when performed by OB/GYN
  • Advanced imaging facility fees (mammogram, ultrasound, DEXA)
  • Specialist care and hospital services

We stay in the loop and help you navigate costs and scheduling.

How access works: booking, same-day care, and after-hours

You can book by phone or start with a secure message. Most women’s health questions begin virtually so we can move fast and bring you in only when an exam is needed. Members get:

  • Same-day or next-day visits when clinically appropriate
  • 24/7 access for urgent concerns via messaging and phone with clinician callbacks
  • Direct text, call, or video with your doctor or primary care team

Urgent but not emergency examples include painful urination, suspected yeast infection, breast pain without trauma, heavy but controlled bleeding, new pelvic discomfort, fever without severe distress, or medication questions. Emergency signs include severe chest pain, trouble breathing, heavy uncontrolled bleeding, fainting, one-sided weakness, or severe abdominal pain with vomiting. When in doubt, call us first; for life-threatening symptoms, call 911.

DPC vs traditional insurance clinics

Traditional clinics often require you to navigate insurance approvals, pay copays, wait weeks, and risk surprise bills. SALTA flips that script. Your monthly membership covers primary care visits and messaging, so you can reach your team by text, call, or video, often the same day, with no copays and no surprise bills for covered primary care. Imaging, outside labs, and specialists are separate and we help you choose high-value options.

A member recently shared: “I got same-day advice for night sweats, a medication plan that actually worked, and a follow-up message that evening. It felt like someone was finally paying attention.”

Pricing, insurance, and HSAs

Membership is a flat monthly fee. Illustrative examples in prior materials are $90 per month for adults and $45 per month for children. Prices can change, so please confirm current rates before you join.

Insurance does not cover the membership itself. You can keep insurance for specialists, imaging, hospital care, and external labs. Beginning 1/1/2026, federal guidance recognizes DPC fees as Health Savings Account (HSA) eligible medical expenses up to federal caps, and you must maintain a qualifying High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) to contribute to an HSA. Confirm details with your benefits administrator.

Quick FAQ

  • What is considered urgent but not emergency? Urgent means you should reach a doctor the same day, but it is not life-threatening. Examples: UTI symptoms, yeast infection, mild to moderate pelvic pain, breast pain without trauma, fever without severe distress, or heavy but controlled bleeding. Emergency signs include severe chest pain, severe shortness of breath, heavy uncontrolled bleeding, fainting, or stroke symptoms.
  • What conditions warrant an after-hours doctor? Worsening UTI or pelvic pain, concerning breast changes, high fever, medication reactions, or new severe headache that cannot wait until morning. Members can message or call 24/7 for triage and guidance. Call 911 for life-threatening symptoms.
  • Does insurance cover direct primary care? Insurance typically does not cover the monthly membership. Keep insurance for non-primary-care needs like specialists, imaging, and hospitalizations. Starting 1/1/2026, membership fees are recognized as HSA-eligible up to federal caps; check your specific benefits.
  • How much does direct primary care cost? Past examples are $90 per month for adults and $45 per month for children, but pricing can change. Please confirm current rates with SALTA before enrolling.
  • What are the 4 primary care services? A simple way to think of them: preventive care, acute and urgent care, chronic condition management, and care coordination including referrals and results follow-up. SALTA includes all four within membership.
